Questions about electric warehouse forklifts

What is a warehouse forklift?

On our site it means a compact 4-wheel electric counterbalance forklift built mainly for indoor work. It is more stable than a 3-wheel truck but smaller than our indoor / outdoor yard trucks.

Should I choose a warehouse forklift or a 3-wheel forklift?

If you lift high, cross dock plates or ramps, or carry 2 tonnes or more, choose 4 wheels for stability. If the priority is turning in the tightest aisles, a 3-wheel forklift turns in less space.

Do I need a forklift or a reach truck?

A counterbalance forklift can load trailers and work on the dock as well as in the racking. A reach truck works in narrower aisles and lifts higher, up to 9.65 m on EP's CQD16 Pro, but stays indoors. See our reach trucks if racking height is the main job.

Can a warehouse forklift go outside?

For short trips on smooth surfaces, yes, and the CPD20L1 is rated IPX4 against splashing water. For regular yard work in all weather, an indoor / outdoor forklift is built for it.

Can I hire a warehouse forklift?

Yes. Every model is available on contract hire from 12 months, with servicing, repairs and GA1/LOLER inspections included in one monthly payment. We don't do short-term hire.

Who services the forklift?

Our own mobile engineers service and repair EP forklifts across all 32 counties and carry out the statutory thorough examination (GA1 in the Republic, LOLER in Northern Ireland). Genuine EP parts come direct from the factory.
