Our EP F4 electric pallet truck starts at €1,100 (£950 in Northern Ireland) ex VAT, depending on fork size. Heavy-duty, ride-on and lifting trucks such as stackers and reach trucks cost more, depending on capacity, lift height and battery. You can buy outright or take any truck on contract hire from 12 months.

A pallet truck lifts a pallet just clear of the floor (about 105 to 125 mm) to move it, for example from a trailer to a bay. A stacker has a mast and lifts pallets onto racking or other pallets, up to 5.5 m on EP's walk-behind models. If you only move pallets along the floor, a pallet truck is cheaper and simpler.

Stackers suit lighter use and racking up to about 5.5 m. A reach truck pushes its mast forward into the racking, so it can work in narrower aisles and lift higher: EP's seated CQD16 Pro reaches 9.65 m. If your drivers store and retrieve pallets at height all day, a reach truck is the better fit.

Walk-behind trucks suit short runs, smaller sites and occasional use. If your operators travel long distances across a warehouse or dock, or move many pallets an hour, a stand-on or platform ride-on truck is faster and less tiring. Several EP models have a fold-down platform so one truck can do both.

Many EP warehouse trucks come with either. Lithium-ion batteries charge on breaks, need no watering and need no battery room, so the truck is available for more of the day. Lead-acid costs less up front and suits single-shift work. See lithium-ion trucks to compare running costs.

Yes. Lifting equipment such as stackers, reach trucks and order pickers needs a thorough examination at least every 12 months (GA1 in the Republic, LOLER in Northern Ireland), and every 6 months for equipment that lifts people, such as order pickers.
