Why use a tow tractor?
A tow tractor pulls a train of trolleys or trailers, so one driver moves several loads in a single trip instead of shuttling pallets one at a time with a forklift. They suit factories feeding production lines, hospitals, airports, retail back-of-house and big warehouses with long runs.

Questions about electric tow tractors
How much can an electric tow tractor pull?
EP's tow tractors are rated from 1 tonne (QDD10) to 6 tonnes (QDD601T). The real figure for your site also depends on gradients, the floor and your trailers' wheels, so we'll check those before recommending a model.
Should I choose a tow tractor or a forklift?
If you move lots of loads over long distances, a tow tractor moves several in one trip and is cheaper to run. If loads need lifting onto racking or trailers, you need a forklift or stacker at each end. Many factories run tow trains between a forklift at goods-in and the production line.
Walk-behind, stand-on or seated?
Walk-behind tuggers suit trolleys and cages over short distances. Stand-on tractors suit frequent stops where the driver hops on and off. Seated tractors suit longer runs and heavier trains.
Will a tow tractor work with my trolleys?
Most likely. EP tow tractors use a standard towing coupling. Tell us what you tow and we'll confirm the right coupling and model.
Can I hire a tow tractor instead of buying?
Yes. Every model on this page is available on contract hire from 12 months, with servicing, repairs and inspections included in one monthly payment. We don't do short-term hire.
Who services and inspects it?
Our own mobile engineers service and repair EP warehouse trucks across all 32 counties, with genuine EP parts direct from the factory. They also carry out the statutory thorough examination of lifting equipment (GA1 in the Republic, LOLER in Northern Ireland). See service and parts.
