Electric forklifts for farms and agri businesses

Lithium-ion EP forklifts and pallet trucks for farm yards, sheds, co-ops, feed mills and horticulture, with no fumes near animals or feed and no diesel to buy.

The price is on every truck we have in stock.

Which EP truck for which farm job

From the yard and the sheds to the feed store, the loading bay and the packhouse. Pick a job to see where it happens and the truck we'd usually suggest, with the price. Every one of these is in stock.

Handling problems on farms and agri sites

The jobs vary from farm to farm, but these come up again and again.

Shed one minute, yard the next

Trucks go from concrete sheds to gravel yards and back all day.

Our answer: yard forklifts with bigger tyres and ground clearance, and pneumatic tyres on the PRO range.

    Fumes near animals and feed

Diesel exhaust in a shed is bad for animals, people and feed.

Our answer: electric trucks, with no exhaust at all.

    Bulk bags and heavy pallets

Fertiliser, feed and seed come in heavy, awkward loads.

Our answer: lithium-ion forklifts from 1.8 to 3.8 tonnes in stock, and heavier models to order.

    Fuel and running costs

Diesel, filters and repairs eat into tight margins.

Our answer: no diesel to buy or store, and fewer parts to wear. Work out your savings.

    Busy seasons

Harvest, spreading and lambing mean long days when nothing can stop.

Our answer: top-up charging on breaks, and a service by our engineers before the busy season.

    Quiet spells, then flat out

A farm forklift can sit for days, then work for weeks. Lithium-ion batteries lose very little charge when parked, so top up before a busy spell. Our own engineers service EP trucks in all 32 counties.

Swapping a diesel on the farm?

An electric forklift does the same lifting with no fumes in the shed. Before you switch, we check three things with you.

      1. Your yardConcrete, gravel or worse, and the steepest ramp the truck has to climb with a full load.
      2. Your yearQuiet spells and busy seasons, so the battery suits your longest days.
      3. Your charging pointWhere the truck will charge, and the power supply you have there.

Easy to deal with, north and south

From one pallet truck for a feed store to yard forklifts for co-ops and packhouses, delivered on our own lorry and serviced by our own engineers.

      Farm safety and forklift inspections

On a farm the forklift is often used by many different people, so inspections and safe habits matter.

      Republic of Ireland

Forklifts need a thorough examination at least every 12 months, or every 6 months if used to lift people (S.I. 299/2007). Our engineers carry out and certify these GA1 examinations.

      Northern Ireland

LOLER (NI) 1999 sets the same intervals. Our Portadown engineers carry out LOLER examinations across all six counties.

      Lifting people

Never lift people on forks or a pallet. Use a man-cage designed for the truck, and have it examined every 6 months.

      Fumes in the shed

Running a diesel truck inside means managing exhaust near people and animals. An electric truck avoids the problem altogether.

      Farm forklift questions

Anything else, call us or see the FAQs page.

Can an electric forklift work in a farmyard?

Yes, if you choose a yard model. EP lithium-ion yard forklifts work on concrete and gravel, and the PRO range runs on pneumatic tyres. Very rough or muddy ground needs a look before you order.

Is an electric forklift safe to use in sheds with animals?

Electric forklifts produce no exhaust, so they're a far better choice than diesel in enclosed sheds and stores, and anywhere near animals or feed.

How do I charge an electric forklift on a farm?

It depends on the truck and the supply you have. We check where it will charge, and what power is there, before you order.

Will the battery go flat if the forklift isn't used for weeks?

Lithium-ion batteries lose very little charge when parked, which suits farms that use the forklift in bursts. Top it up before a busy spell.

Can we hire instead of buying?

Yes. Forklift hire runs on 12-month contracts at a fixed weekly price, with servicing, repairs and thorough examinations included. Pallet trucks are hired as part of a fleet. We don't do short-term hire.

Do you do free site surveys?

Yes, if you run five or more trucks. For a single farm forklift, tell us what you lift and what your yard is like, and we'll advise and send a price.
